John Robert “Jack” Gillis, 85, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Hempfield Manor, surrounded by his loving family.  Born May 25, 1931 in Latrobe to the late Robert M. and Christina (Duffy) Gillis, he lived most of his life in Greensburg.  John graduated from Latrobe High School in 1949.  After high school he proudly served in the U.S. Army and graduated from Robert Morris School of Business in 1954.  As an accountant he worked for a number of companies in the region and retired from Glunt Development Co. of Turtle Creek.  John also conducted his own tax accounting business with his wife Betty at their residence for 56 years.  In his spare time, John enjoyed golfing, working with the Boy Scouts where he was recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Westmoreland-Fayette Council of the Boy Scouts and a member of the Order of the Arrow and Wood Badge, singing with the choir at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg and vacationing in South Carolina with his wife Betty.  John is survived by his wife: Betty (Tremba) Gillis of Greensburg; his daughter: Cynthia and her husband James Linderman of Ruffs Dale; his son: Scott Gillis and his wife Kimberly of Greensburg; his daughter: Tamara Gillis and Jeffery VanBoskirk of Mechanicsburg; his sisters: Mary Gaffney of North Versailles and Roberta Jackman of Latrobe; his grandchildren: Gary Delligatti, Jessica Linderman Kerlicker, James Linderman III and Tara Hall; his great-grandchildren: Hannah Delligatti, Julie and Mya Kerlicker, Christine, Katelyn and Kimberly Linderman, and Chelsey and Wyatt Hall.  In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his sisters: Patricia Gillis and Chirstina Kennedy; and his grandson: Todd Linderman.  A private funeral liturgy for the family will be held at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.  The family would like to thank the staff at Hempfield Manor for their care and devotion.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts Westmoreland-Fayette Council, 2 Garden Center Dr., Greensburg, PA 15601.  www.bachafh.com
