MaryAnn Parana, 82, of Southwest Greensburg, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  She was born June 13, 1934 in Saltsburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Magdalene (Balas) Stroker.  Prior to retirement she had been employed by A.E. Troutman Department Store and later was an in-home caregiver.  She was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg, Rosary Altar Society and funeral choir of the church.  She was a graduate of Green Township High School Class of 1952 and Comptometer School of Cleveland, Ohio class of 1957.  She was a regent of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas court seton #306.  She was a member of the Penn State Suburbanite, Keystone Ladies Auxiliary, Pennsylvania Area Slovaks, SCG of Western Pennsylvania, First Catholic Slovak Union, Future Homemakers of America, PTA, NRA, and was Girl Scout leader.  Gardening was a great passion that her father gave her a green thumb for.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Francis J. Parana, Sr. on August 3, 2010.  She is survived by 2 sons: Andrew P. Parana, Sr. and his wife Theresa of Ligonier and Francis J. Parana, Jr. of New Stanton; 2 daughters: Marie Parana of Southwest Greensburg and Ann F. and retired Lt. Col. Richard Futch of Brandon, Florida; 8 grandchildren: Sarah Jo, Andrew, Jr., Joshua, Jessica, Brandy, David, Jason and Nancy; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister: Elizabeth Jane Biros of Bedford, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many special friends.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Catholic Church, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.  The Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Friday in the funeral home.  www.bachafh.com
