Rocco G. “Rocky” Blasiole, 101, of Southwest Greensburg, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 in St. Anne Home, Greensburg. He was born August 12, 1915 in Greensburg, a son of the late Sante and Santa (Iezzi) Blasiole. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary (Damato) Blasiole in 2004; brothers: Dr. Ralph, Anthony and Joseph; and a great-grandson: Ryan Mangan. He, with his wife, operated an accounting firm in Greensburg for 30 years. He served two terms as Clerk of Courts in Westmoreland County, was a member of Greensburg Salem School Board and also a member of Southwest Greensburg Boro Council. He was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg and its funeral choir. He was appointed controller of the Pennsylvania State Treasury Department and later appointed a controller in the House of Representatives from where he retired. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1480 and fourth degree member of Seton Assembly. A charter life member of AMVETS Post #88 and a life member of VFW Post #33, both of Greensburg. He is survived by his children: Sandra and Galen Weaver, Barbara DePasquale and Robert Bernard, and MaryJo and Tom Altman, all of Greensburg; a son George and Barbara Blasiole of North Carolina; a brother: Adam and Steffie Blasiole of Jeannette; a sister: Yolanda and John Radisi of North Carolina; eight grandchildren: Tracie Aldape (Paul), Rebecca Murtland, Marc Murtland (Kim), Jennifer Boyer (Robert), Deana Blackburn (Robert), Jennifer Tate (John), Kerri Peck (Jeff) and Courtney Przybylek (Nicholas); 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Monday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
