William Asa, 94, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born February 4, 1924 in Greensburg, a son of the late Michael and Tamra (Saloom) Asa. Prior to retirement he had been employed by Westinghouse Air Brake Co., Wilmerding. He was a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, South Greensburg and was an Army veteran serving in WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores A. (Maughan) Asa in April 2016; four brothers, Buddy, George, John and Michael Asa; and his sister, Freda Asa. He is survived by two daughters, Nichole Crowley, of Youngwood and Vickie Smith and husband Bill, of Greensburg; his son, Donald Shawley, of Florida; five grandchildren; Joyce (Mark) Malis, Michael Smith, and Joseph (Amanda) Smith, all of Greensburg, Lucy and Zackary Brown, of Youngwood, and Joshua Perry, of Jeannette; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces, Marion (Mike) Arndt and Debbie Weil; and a great-nephew. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 1 PM Monday in the funeral home with Archpriest John Nosal officiating. Interment will follow in Hillview Cemetery, Greensburg with Full Military Honors accorded by the VFW Post #33 Honor Guard.
