Frederick J. “Fred” Prohaska, 89, of Greensburg, died Thursday, September 20, 2018 in St. Anne Home, Greensburg. He was born April 16, 1929 in Latrobe, a son of the late Rudolph and Anna Rose (Warush) Prohaska. Prior to retirement he had been employed for 42 years by Kennametal, Inc. in Latrobe. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg. Fred served in the National Guard and was a member of the Fort Allen Antique Tractor Association. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma (Taylor) Prohaska on June 19, 2010 and a brother Albert Leonard Prohaska. He is survived by his son William F. Prohaska and wife Debbie of Greensburg; his daughter Linda Sue Prohaska of Greensburg; 2 grandchildren Stephanie Prohaska Craig (Kyle) of Plum and Stephen Prohaska (Melissa) of Oakmont; 2 great grandsons Tucker and Ryder Craig; a brother Rudolph A. “Rudy” Prohaska of Latrobe; 3 step grandchildren Gary, Michael and Amy; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11AM Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Steven L. Craft and Pastor Almon Birt co-officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
