John J. “Bogey” Martelli, 77, of Lloydsville, died Friday, April 27, 2018 at UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born March 16, 1941 in Latrobe, a son of the late John L. and Margaret T. (Urdzik) Martelli. John was a US Army veteran and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Latrobe. Prior to retirement he worked at Saint-Gobain and previously worked at Vulcan Mold and then Unity Cemetery all in Latrobe. He was a life member and still active at Lloydsville VFD where he currently served on the house committee and previously served in line officer positions including Assistant Chief. John was a member of Lloydsville Sportsmen’s Club, Unity Township American Legion Post #982 and VFW Post #8643 in Pleasant Unity. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaretta K. “Margie” (Dreistadt) Martelli; and 2 brothers, Frank L. and Andrew P. Martelli. He is survived by 3 children, John T. Martelli and wife Darleen of Boiling Springs, Mark A. Martelli of Latrobe and Melissa Kloos and husband Scott of Latrobe; 4 grandchildren, Tyler, Courtney, Delaney and Johnny; brother and sisters-in-law: Anna Martelli, Grace Specht, Dorothy Danser, Peter Dreistadt, Jr. and wife Christine and Marcella Novak and husband James; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers will begin at 9:15 AM Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with The Rev. Anthony J. Carbone as celebrant. Military honors by VFW Post #33 honor guard and interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. Members of Lloydsville VFD will conduct a service at 7 PM Sunday in the funeral home. www.bachafh.com
