Mary T. Hannak

Mary T. Hannak, 93, of Unity Township, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at her home. She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Whitney, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Anna T. (Spirlak) Hannak. Prior to retirement, she worked at Latrobe Area Hospital and previously worked at American Cyanamid, also in Latrobe; she was our true-life "Rosie the Riveter." She attended St. Mary's School in Uniontown and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney. Aunt Mary loved playing bingo, doing puzzles, 500 gin rummy and any card games. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John J. and Anthony J. Hannak, and her twin sister, Anna C. Stas, she was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. At Mary's request, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, with the Rev. James F. Podlesny, O.S.B., as celebrant.
