Obituary

Paul M. Yeneral, 102, of Greensburg, died Monday, March 22, 2021 in Villa Angela at St. Anne Home.  He was born October 30, 1918 in Greensburg, a son of the late Philip D. and Anna (Kurilla) Yeneral.  A life-long resident of Greensburg, Paul will long be remembered with affection and admiration by all who knew him.  He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1937.  Throughout his career and personal life, he truly embodied the spirit of the Greatest Generation in the United States.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Amphion (AR13) and steadfastly dedicated himself to U.S. government service with the Department of Defense for 36 years.  During his tenure, he led ground-breaking reforms to the personnel system, which positively impacted thousands of military and civilian members around the world.  His devotion to his faith was an inspiration to fellow members of the St. Paul Parish in Greensburg, where he served as an usher, choir member, volunteer and faithful member of the parish for many years.  In addition, he served his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post # 981 in South Greensburg.  In his spare time, Paul invested time in his passion for golf and flying, which resulted in memories of happy times shared with friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, John Yeneral and Joseph Yenerall. He is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Linda Yeneral Porter, Thomas L. Yeneral, Joseph D. Yenerall, Bonnie Yenerall Raspet, and Paul M. Yenerall; and several great nieces and great nephews. All services were private. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Paul Parish followed by a private interment in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. His remaining family members think of him lovingly as the patriarch of the family whose wise counsel and sense of humor will be sorely missed.  If memorial contributions wish to be made, please send them to the St. Paul Parish, 820 Carbon Road, Greensburg, PA, 15601.  LEO M.
