Sara DeMonte Obituary

Sara Jane Crosby DeMonte, 76, of New Stanton, PA, dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born into eternal life on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Jane was born on November 15, 1946, in Greensburg to the late Robert B. and Sarah J. (Riley) Crosby. She was a 1964 graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School. Following graduation, she attended and graduated from Duff’s Business Institute in Pittsburgh.  Jane’s previous jobs included City Hall, Troutman’s Department Store, and Mountain View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center as a nurse’s aide, all in Greensburg. Prior to retirement, Jane was a licensed Property and Casualty Insurance Agent, working alongside her husband at his Insurance Agency in Youngwood. Above all else, her priority was being a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Youngwood. Jane loved the beach and relaxing and exercising in water. Her favorite destination as a child was the family’s annual summer vacation to Stone Harbor, New Jersey where she loved to water ski, swim, and soak up the sun. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband on awarded business trips as a result of their successful performance. Jane’s other favorite activities included sewing, cross-stitch, perfectly caring for the family Schnauzers, mowing the lawn, relaxing on the back porch, reading Stephen King and Danielle Steele novels, shopping, cooking weekly Sunday pasta dinners with homemade sauce and meatballs, and caring for her grateful family. She savored chocolate and ice cream at any moment. Over the years, Jane was a strong, hardworking woman, and she will be deeply missed by all. Her children and grandchildren are so proud of her and the life she lived. Her strength, courage, will, and positive outlook will always be remembered.

In addition to her parents, and grandfather, Reuben W. Crosby, with whom she had a special relationship, she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Ernest Jack DeMonte, Sr. and Angeline DelleDonna DeMonte, and her sister-in-law, Joan “Dede” Crosby. Left behind to cherish and honor Jane’s legacy with love and grateful hearts are her husband of 56 years, Ernest Jack DeMonte, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia A. DeMonte Howells and her husband, Timothy; their children, grandson, Bradley D. Howells and granddaughter, Brianna C. Howells, all of Scottdale; son, David R. DeMonte and his wife, Edie Dulkis-DeMonte, and son, Richard Miller, all of Greensburg; brother, Henry J. Crosby, formerly of Greensburg; sister-in-law, Janet DeMonte, of Jeannette; and several nieces and a nephew and their families.

Honoring Jane’s wishes, a private visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1st at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg.
