William J. Maloy, 86, of Southwest Greensburg, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born January 9, 1935 in Jeannette, a son of the late John Clifford and Ruth Eve (Buckley) Maloy. He was a graduate of Jeannette High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Waynesburg University, and received his master’s degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Prior to retirement he had been a French teacher for Jeannette School District, an English teacher for Greensburg Salem School District, and was a guidance counselor for Penn Trafford School District and Hempfield Area School District. William was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He liked motor scooters, having lunch with the Romeo Guys, and traveling and visiting friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard John Maloy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois C. (Jones) Maloy; his son, James D. Maloy and wife Autumn, of Greensburg; his daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” J. Mylant and husband John, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, John Andrew Mylant, Jeffrey Thomas Maloy, and Deanna Grace Mylant; his brother, Robert J. Maloy and wife Daryl, of Greensburg; his sister-in-law, Betty Maloy, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Thunberg officiating.
